YFNED Annual Report

We’ve released our Annual Report for 2022-23. It’s a comprehensive look at the work YFNED did last year, and shows just how much we’ve accomplished in our short time as an organization.

As the Chiefs Committee on Education (CCOE) changes, we would like to acknowledge the hard work of the former members. YFNED owes its success to your vision and support.

YFNED at the ILC

The summer hub at the ILC is now underway. It’s open from 10am to 4pm, Monday through Friday. Join us for math tutoring from 1pm to 4pm, Tuesdays through Thursdays.

July Family Feast

The next family feast is upon us - happening July 22nd at the Kwanlin Dün Cultural Centre from noon until 3:00pm.

It’s for all Whitehorse-based families with Indigenous kids aged 0 to 18.

Our cooks are even prepping some goodies to take home with you!

Early Years — July activities

All Indigenous families, whether registered with our program or not, are welcome to attend our drop-ins. There will be snacks, activities, beading and knitting supplies, and a chance to see our space and meet the Early Years team.

New staff and now hiring

We would like to give the following new staff a warm welcome!

Emily Wonford started June 16 as a Community Therapy Assistant in Watson Lake and will be supporting literacy initiatives in the community.

Shirley Lindstrom is a member of CTFN and works as an Education Assistant during the school year. Shirley started as Program Assistant with Early Years on June 22nd.

Taylor Legge is Inuit and has a career interest in Administration. Taylor started as our new Front Desk Administrative Assistant on June 12th.

Danielle Drummond started on June 21st as a Community Therapy Assistant in Haines Junction, she will be helping the allied health team support families this summer.
