Lessons from our land - Early Years Conference

Our Early Years conference - Lessons from our land - has wrapped up for another year. We had unforgettable keynote speeches by Candace Linklater also known as Relentless Indigenous Woman and Emily Payne from Rivers to Ridges. Thanks to everyone who attended, presented, organized and accommodated this time for learning. Our success is thanks to your effort, energy and participation.

Another successful hamper season

Just want to thank everyone who made our winter hamper distribution a success. Big thanks to our staff, supporters and volunteers (especially those from LSCFN) for braving two days of ice and two days of cold! To PNW, Overland West (A1), Smalls Expediting, Save-on Foods, Yukon Organics, Klondike Kettle Corn, Bean North and City of Whitehorse - you helped us make this happen.

Winter horse camp

All seasons are good seasons for horse camp! In December, we took learners out to Heart Bar Ranch for a day of farm chores and equine therapy, including a some time with chickens and collecting eggs! Thanks to Gayle and Joie for all their help and helping us have fun!

Our teams, back together after a winter's rest, gathered in mid-January for an important and powerful presentation from Dr. Jody Carrington.

We are dropping our shoulders, listening to kids, and connecting with parents/families - also be kind, and don't tolerate bullshit, in that order.

Visitors from Ottawa

This January, YFNED hosted a visit from our partners at Indigenous Services Canada in Ottawa. We took them on a tour of our Jordan’s Principle Wrap-Around services, including stops at our kitchens to see thousands of school lunches being made, visits to several schools to see our Advocates at work, as well as a tour of Ama Ku, our land-based learning campus, where a workshop in the Early Years conference was underway. Thanks for your visit ISC, we’ll see you again soon!
